In-between giving you advice on how to improve your paintball playing or tips on what paintball gear you really need, we also like to take a look at the lighter side of the game too. Paintball, like a lot of extreme sports I guess, is often used in advertising, movies and even music videos, so it’s often pretty funny to see just how wrong the creative types behind the paintball references get it.
However, this is undoubtedly the worst I’ve come across so far.
Tata Motors, which is one of India’s largest car manufacturers, recently launched the advert below to showcase the manoeuvrability and handling of their new Vista 90 car. Apparently it’s the most ‘powerful petrol hatch in its class’ whatever that means, so they decided to create a paintball chase sequence to prove it!
If you’ve ever seen Zoolander, you’ll probably have got the reference in the post’s title. There’s a scene in the movie where a bunch of dimwits start a water fight at a petrol station (yes, using petrol hoses) and, unsurprisingly it ends pretty badly. That’s what this car advert reminds me of. A high-speed chase in fairly rubbish cars, with lots of goggles being worn, but crucially none of them pulled down over their eyes. Utter stupidity.
I could forgive it if it was at least a cool advert, but it really just isn’t.
