How many paintballs do you need for a day?

Paintballs

Ah one of paintball’s sacred questions. We get asked this a heck of a lot when people come to play paintball, and it’s easy to see why. When you’re in “the zone”, the last thing on your mind is how many paintballs are in your hopper as, with any luck, you’re too busy concentrating on splatting that guy twenty feet in front of you. Right? However, a few days ago I answered the timeless question of does paintball hurt? So today I’m going to carry on this myth-breaking series with a classic paintball conundrum.

It’s a tricky one to answer too as people fire shots at very different rates. Ask a die-hard paintball disciple and they’ll tell you that you can never have too many paintballs – like 5,000 a game: minimum. Whereas most other players (and common sense) will suggest that, in reality, a 10 minute game is unlikely to swallow up much more than 100 balls for most people.

I’ve been looking through the forums (and even Yahoo Answers) to try and get a consensus on this one, but I don’t think there is a ‘right number’ of paintballs per game. Look at it this way though; if you’ve booked a day’s paintballing with your mates and you’ve all been gearing up to it for ages, the last thing you want to do is run out of paintballs and have to sit the rest of the day out. A day’s paintball might be 6 – 8 games, so aim for the most trigger-happy scenario when you buy your paintballs (probably around 500), and remember: you can always buy more if and when you do run out.

Stay safe folks!
