in Bedlam presents...

It’s just been a week since the PSP 2012 Phoenix Open ended. Now, players and other paintball enthusiasts are preparing a for trip to the next PSP stop in Chicago, IL on June 21-24, 2012. Anna @BedlamPaintball provides tips that will help you plan a successful paintball trip.

Tip #1 Do your Homework

paintball tripBefore you pack your bags, make sure that you have already “Googled” the climate of the place during your visit. This is a lesson I learned when we went paintballing in Reading around January. The weather is pretty cold and we have to bulk up to feel warm. Wearing too much clothing does restrict your movements and movement restrictions may ruin your paintball game. The best advice is to visit a location during summer.

Tip #2 Secure permits if you are bringing your gadgets

If you wish to bring your gadgets in your travel, make sure that you have already checked with your local authorities regarding the laws that pertains to travelling with toy guns. This goes especially true if you are travelling by plane since airport officials are pretty strict with guns (even with toy guns). You may need to secure permits from authorities beforehand or you may want to check in earlier than usual to avoid flight delays. You don’t want to be detained and mistaken as terrorists, right?

Tip #3 Bring enough cash

Cities and countries have different economic status. Some countries may be too expensive while some like Bahrain are really cheap because they do not have an income tax. If you happen to visit these types of places, the least that you would want to happen is run out of cash and see a Breda M37 8mm Machine Gun replica on sale. This also applies to countries like USA where their Thanksgiving sale is a giveaway.

Tip #4 Call and Book the local paintball game zone

If you are visiting the place during holidays or weekends, you may want to call and book the local paintball game zone in advance to secure a slot. When calling in for a reservation, you need to provide your confirmed time of arrival, the type of game you’ll be playing and the number of players per team.

Tip #5 Clean and have your gadgets ready

Pack your mask, marker, paintballs in pods, padded/camouflaged clothing, nice fitting boots, and CO2 tank. Although you can rent or buy these in the area, others however prefer to bring their own stuff to ensure uninterrupted fun.
